Simulation and participation
Patricia Town
A friendly 2D environment for testing procedures, memory, collaboration and oversight.
Role in Patricia
Give people a way to explore Patricia before a robot enters the room.
Patricia Town can represent homes, care settings and community services with multiple people, activities and consequences. It allows procedures and agent behaviour to be tested repeatedly and discussed openly.
It may also become an engaging way for developers, users and supporters to contribute scenarios and compare approaches.
What this project tests
Questions before claims.
- Procedure behaviour across longer scenarios
- Persistent people, places and activities
- Multiple users and handover
- Consequences of choices and missed steps
- Prompts and agent updates without physical risk
Next work
What moves it forward.
- Build the first playable town loop
- Add editable Patricia instructions and procedures
- Create care and premises scenarios
- Record a public walkthrough
- Invite structured scenario contributions
Why a game-like world
Test consequences before hardware makes them expensive.
Patricia Town uses an approachable top-down 2D world, inspired by familiar exploration games. Players can move through homes, services and community places while Patricia follows procedures and responds to events.
Simulation is not a substitute for real-world testing. It is a faster place to find bad assumptions.
